There’s something magical about female friendship. Galentine’s Day, celebrated on February 13th, is all about honouring that bond: a day dedicated not to romantic love, but to the women who make life brighter just by being in it.
What is Galentine’s Day?
Popularised by the TV comedy, Parks and Recreation, Galentine’s Day became a pop culture phenomenon that celebrated female friendships around Valentine’s Day. Galentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to celebrate your female friends. Whether it’s over brunch, cocktails, or a cosy night in, it’s a chance to show appreciation for the women who support, inspire, and challenge you in equal measure.
The Power of Female Friendship
Friendship between women isn’t just about shared laughs (though there’s plenty of that!). Studies show that strong female friendships are linked to better mental health, lower stress, and even increased resilience in challenging times. A heartfelt conversation with a close friend can lift your mood instantly, and a supportive circle can give you the courage to take risks and chase dreams. That kind of loyalty is rare and worth celebrating, not just on Galentine’s Day, but all year round.
Our Galentine’s Celebration
This year, we celebrated Galentine’s with a dinner party at home. A night full of laughter, food, and all the little touches that make friendship feel so special. We wore matching red and pink PJs, cooked creamy vodka pasta, home-made brownies, shared a selection of picky bits, and some glasses of wine. After dinner, Hannah gifted us personalised key rings, and then we dove into games and a Kahoot quiz, testing how well we really know each other!

Other Fun Ways to Celebrate
- Brunch or Dinner: Gather your closest friends for pancakes, mimosas, or a homemade feast.
- Spa Day or Self-Care Night: Treat yourselves to relaxation and laughter, from face masks to bubble baths.
- Memory-Making Activities: Go for a hike, take a class together, or plan a weekend getaway.
- Gifts with Meaning: Handwritten letters, personalised keepsakes, or just sharing something that reminds you of your bond.
The specifics don’t matter as much as the intention: taking time to honour, celebrate, and connect with the women who make your life richer.

Why It Matters
In a world that often emphasises competition and comparison, female friendship reminds us that support and connection are far more powerful than rivalry. Galentine’s Day is a small but meaningful way to pause and appreciate these relationships, reinforcing the love, laughter, and solidarity that women bring to each other’s lives.
Pour your energy into the friendships that truly sustain you. Celebrate your friends, the ones who have been there through thick and thin. After all, female friendship isn’t just about fun brunches or cosy nights in, it’s about love that lasts a lifetime.
